New Mexico Counties
Board of Directors Elect New National Representatives

SANTA FE, NM – During the New Mexico Counties (NMC) 86 th Annual Conference
Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, June 15, 2023, in Farmington, the Board
elected new leadership to represent New Mexico at the national level. They
assumed their responsibilities upon adjournment of the Board meeting.
Board members elected the following individuals to serve on the National
Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors: Serving another two-year
term as NACo Board representatives are Valencia County Commissioner
Jhonathan Aragon and Harding County Assessor Phillip Trujillo. These
individuals were chosen by their peer elected officials as ideal candidates to
represent all 33 counties in New Mexico.
NACo serves nearly 40,000 county elected officials and 3.6 million county
employees. Founded in 1935, NACo unites county officials to: advocate county
priorities in federal policymaking, promote exemplary county policies and
practices, nurture leadership skills and expand knowledge networks, optimize
county and taxpayer resources and cost savings, and enrich the public’s
understanding of county government.
