Happy Spring! “T’aachil” is the name for April in the Navajo language/Diné Bizaad and it means “Growth of Early Plant Life.” Herbs, sprouts, and plant starts are nutritious in-season additions to spring snacks and meals. Starting this month, the first seasonal farmers’ markets will begin to open, and you can check the “Find A Market” locator for market hours, locations, and more information.

Keep an eye out for signs of spring at your farmers’ market:

  • You may see microgreens (tiny veggie sprouts), more leafy greens, tender peas, radishes, vibrant herbs, and other spring produce at your market.
  • Early spring is an excellent time to find a CSA near you. Check out our recipes featuring produce from the Farm Fresh CSA in Anthony for some spring recipe ideas.
  • Earth Day is April 22 (Monday), and we challenge you to take action locally to support the thriving of your community. Visiting your farmers’ market, gardening, volunteering at a local farm, and participating in seed sharing and educational opportunities are some fun ways to get in the local spirit!
