Brandon Moultrie, Esq., loves to help student-athletes because it is “satisfying to help a student-athlete work out their eligibility and documentation and it is gratifying to see how hard they work.

Brandon Moultrie, Esq., is serving as the new National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) compliance coordinator for Eastern New Mexico University.

He was drawn to the position at ENMU because he saw potential within the Greyhound community.

“When I came to the campus, Athletic Director Dr. Greg Waggoner and everyone on staff presented Eastern well,” he explained. “Eastern Athletics is something that grabbed my attention, and in a small town like Portales, I see potential because it’s a close-knit community.”

Brandon loves to help student-athletes because it is “satisfying to help a student-athlete work out their eligibility and documentation and it is gratifying to see how hard they work.

“I want our Department of Athletics to be a very strong resource for ENMU students,” said Brandon who graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in social science, Cleveland State University with a master’s degree in sports management and from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School with a Juris Doctorate in Law.

Brandon will be building a Student Athletic Advisory group project with other members of the Department of Athletics to get student-athletes involved in the Portales community and Greyhound community. Brandon is “excited for this new program” because it will “help develop leaders. It’s about making an impact on our students.”

Two players from each sports team will be chosen to join the group to review NCCA rules, participate in school activities and help each other in their studies.

Brandon always knew that he wanted to have a career in sports, adding, “With my legal skills and sports background, I knew I would be a great NCCA sports compliance coordinator.”

Gregory Moultrie, Brandon’s father, is his role model. Brandon’s father served 23 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Lt. Colonel out of the Pentagon from Washington D.C. “He showed me the value of hard work and loyalty to his family,” Brandon explained.

Brandon is a dream chaser. One of his biggest dreams was to be a licensed attorney in Florida, which he accomplished. He encourages others to “Dream big! I believe that those with a vision will better their lives, even through adversity.””

Liesl Griffin, Brandon’s wife, works in the District Attorney Office in Clovis. The couple got married on Nov. 11, 2017.

“We are going to be starting our family here Portales and we are very excited,” Brandon said.

Brandon looks forward to serving the Greyhound community. He wants to invest in students’ lives and help them achieve their academic and athletic goals. He said, “When the students leave the University, we want them to be so much better than when they first came to us and for them to be prepared for the world. I believe that Eastern is a vessel to further success to those who are willing to work hard.”
