New Athletic Director Matt Billings to be Introduced On Jan. 18th During Women’s Basketball Game
PORTALES, N.M. – Matt Billings will officially be introduced as the new Eastern New Mexico Director of Athletics on Jan. 18th during halftime of the ENMU women’s basketball game against Angelo State.
Billings will officially assume duties as the Director of Athletics on Monday, Jan. 20, but will be recognized and introduced during halftime of the women’s game. Media availability and a brief meet and greet will be available inside GA Room 7 in between the men’s and women’s game on the 20th.
“I’m truly honored to be joining the Eastern New Mexico University community,” Billings said, “I look forward to getting started there in a couple of weeks”
Billings will take over the Eastern New Mexico athletic department with nearly 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics, most recently serving as the Deputy Athletics Director at Portland State University. While at Portland State he had direct oversight of multiple areas including: academic services, financial aid, student housing, student conduct, business office and budgets, human resources, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, facilities and operations and football scheduling.
He has held a number of positions within collegiate athletics prior to his eight years at Portland State including the University of Southern California, Boise State and Weber State. Billings holds bachelor’s degrees from Utah State University in Political Science and Idaho State University in Economics, and a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Idaho State University.
