Eastern New Mexico University Director of Athletics, Dr. Paul Weir, recently announced the appointment of Tommie Moore as ENMU’s new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
“I am excited to join the Greyhounds as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. I have a passion for developing athletes holistically on and off the field of play and look forward to working with all of Eastern’s student-athletes,” said Moore.
Moore joins the Greyhounds from the University of Texas where he was an Athletic Performance Intern. While with the Longhorns, Moore assisted with setting and achieving athlete and team objectives, educating athletes on exercise, nutrition, and supplements, assisting athletic trainers to reduce injuries and facilitate rehabilitation, and observing athletes to adjust movement patters to maximize performance.
Prior to his time at the University of Texas, Moore was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Southeastern Louisiana University. Moore assisted with the day-to-day operations for football and other Olympic sports in the weight room, coordinated training sessions and supervised lifting sessions for several sport programs, and developed and implemented programs to improve athlete power, speed, and endurance.
Before his role at Southeastern Louisiana, Moore was a Graduate Assistant Strength Coach at Delta State University. He assisted in the operations of the weight facility for football and men’s basketball, coordinated all training and conditioning sessions for women’s basketball, and helped student-athletes and teams to meet benchmarks for performance.
Moore also gained valuable experience as a Strength and Conditioning Intern at several institutions including the University of Kentucky, the University of Florida, Middle Georgia State University, and South Carolina State University.
Moore is in the process of obtaining a Master of Science in Human and Sport Performance from Delta State University. He graduated from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Communication in 2018.
