The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team was plagued by three errors in the bottom of the sixth inning, leading to four runs in a 4-2 non-conference setback to fourth-ranked Angelo State on the road. The Greyhounds move to 14-2 overall and saw their eight-game winning streak come to a close.

ENMU was paced offensively by Blake Frye and Luke Vedder who each hit a solo shot in the setback.

Keenan Dodd turned in a masterful performance on the mound, scattering three hits and two walks for two runs over the first 5.0 innings, holding the Rams’ potent offense in check. The right-hander cruised through the first four innings before running into trouble in the bottom of the sixth.

Following a Frye long ball in the top of the inning to break the scoreless tie, Dodd surrendered a leadoff double with a wild pitch moving the runner to third. An RBI single through the left-side of the infield chased Dodd from the game, giving way to Victor Persad. ENMU would go on to surrender three errors in the inning, leading to four runs by the Rams.

In the top of the seventh, Vedder was called upon as a pinch hitter and promptly launched a ball into orbit, cutting the deficit to 4-2.

The Hounds put the tying run on-base with two outs in the top of the ninth, but a groundout ended the contest.

The series with the Rams continues tomorrow in San Angelo. First pitch in the twinbill is tabbed for 3 p.m. For all the latest news on ENMU athletics, follow @ENMUBaseball and @ENMUAthletics on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
