HOBBS, NM — Kandice Miles paced a strong effort by the Eastern New Mexico University outdoor track & field teams at Saturday’s New Mexico Junior College Ross Black Invitational. The sophomore sprinter qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200m dash and led a qualifying effort in the women’s 4x100m relay.
As a team, ENMU had 10 top-five finishes and 25 top-ten performances.
Miles completed the 200m dash with a time of 24.33, to provisionally qualify for the national meet. She also ran the final leg of the 4x100m relay along with Lateria Slaughter, Danee Bustos, and Zhane Gurule in a time of 46.60. Both times were school records
The Greyhound men’s team took first place in five events at the meet. Marcus Parker won the 200m dash, Shane Walsh won the 1,500m run, Ivar Moinat won the 800m run and Clarence Cowart took first place in the javelin.
