CANYON, Texas – In the final regular season meet of 2019, junior sprinter Kandice Miles won three events to lead the Eastern New Mexico track and field team at the West Texas A&M Last Chance on Sunday afternoon.

The Houston, Texas product was the first to cross the finish line in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash events while also leading the women’s 4×100-meter relay team including Maijah Mathis, Lateria Slaughter, and Danee Bustos to a victory.

The relay team opened the meet on a high note, edging out West Texas A&M with a time of 45.95 to win the first event of the day.

Miles picked up her second win in the 100-meter dash as her time of 11.97 was able to win the event by 0.08 seconds. Mathis took home fourth with a time of 12.16 while Slaughter came in seventh after crossing the finish line in 12.53.

In the 200-meter event, Miles won her third event of the day with a time of 24.32, narrowly beating out WTAMU’s Tianna McKinney by a 0.02 second margin. In her final individual event in her Greyhounds career, Bustos took third after crossing the line in 24.84 and Mathis finished fourth with a 25.95.

The Greyhounds will now wait to see who will be selected to compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships that will be hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville from May 23-25.
