KINGSVILLE, Texas – Junior sprinter Kandice Miles put together a phenomenal women’s 200-meter prelim run at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Kingsville, Texas on Friday, coming away with ninth place while junior middle distance runner Ivar Moinat turned in a 12th place finish in the men’s 800-meter prelims.

Miles just missed making the championship cut, finishing just 0.01 seconds back of the eighth place spot with a time of 24.38.

Junior sprinter Maijah Mathis also competed in the 200-meter prelim, finishing in 21st with a time of 25.16.

In the men’s 800-meter prelims, Moinat crossed the finish line in 1:54.50 to finish in the top 12 for a second straight championship meet after placing seventh during the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in the 800-meter event.

The Greyhounds will return to the track tomorrow as the women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Miles, Mathis, Danee Bustos, and Lateria Slaughter will compete for the NCAA Division II National Championship after qualifying the championship heat on Thursday. The women’s 4×100-meter final is scheduled for a 4:10 p.m. MST start.
