Graveside services for Mickey Lee Wilson, 72, of Portales will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Mon., Nov. 2, 2020 in the Portales Cemetery with Richard Perkins officiating. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post #31.
Mickey Lee Wilson was born Feb. 1, 1948, in Carlsbad, NM to the home of Ruby “Joyce” (Bell) and Jerry Woodrow Wilson and died Oct. 28, 2020 in Rio Rancho, NM. Mickey grew up in Portales, and in 1966 he joined the US Marine Corps where he was trained in auto mechanics. Mickey served two tours of duty in Vietnam before being released in 1969. Upon his release, he settled in southern California where he worked until 1991. During those years he worked as a Volkswagen mechanic, and later in a metal factory. Still later he managed several stores, and even a Deli at Four Corners, CA. In 1991, he moved to Carlsbad, NM where he worked setting up mobile homes. In the mid 1990’s he began installing chain link fencing. Since about 2000, Mickey has been in a great deal of pain, and completely unable to work. He enjoyed collecting coins, and in earlier years, he liked to do target shooting throwing knives. Mickey loved animals of all kinds, and hated the idea of hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Cudabeck of the home; a son, Shane Lee Wilson of St. Louis, MO; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Shari Key Watkins and Tammy Lyn Cudaback both of Portales, Glenda marie and Juventino Uribe of Taft, CA, Peggy Ann and Brad McCorkle of Arlington, TX and Paula Renee and Richard Perkins of Clovis; 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Tinsley of Portales as well as countless friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jerrita Wilson.

Mr. Wilson (Mickey) was DISCHARGED from his military service obligation. NOT “released”. Only criminals are ever released.
