PORTALES, NM —The Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team (2-9-1; HC 1-7) will close out its six-game road trip this week. Next week, the Greyhounds will open a three-game home stand.

The trip will open against Dallas Baptist on Thursday, October 12, at 6 p.m. MT. An afternoon (12 p.m.) contest against St. Edwards will be played on Saturday.

Christopher Mesquita paces the Greyhounds with three goals this season. Ignacio DicunMitchell Meisinger and Nicolai Alstrom all have two goals. Both of Alstrom’s goals were dramatic game-winners.
Yuri NascimientoCody Wann and Ryan Flores have seen time in net this season and have combined for a 2.49 goals against average. Flores has posted a team-best .742 save percentage.

Head Coach Paul Tate is in his third season and with a 15-24-7 record is just one win away from catching Carlos Elizondo for the program record for victories.

The Patriots bring a 6-5-1 record into tomorrow’s matchup with a 3-4-1 mark in Heartland play. DBU is looking to snap a two-game skid after setbacks against St. Mary’s and St. Edwards. Ethan Martinez has been Dallas Baptist’s top offensive threat with five goals and three assists. Tyler Hoffman has been the primary goalkeeper and has a 1.04 goals against average with an .811 save percentage.

Eastern 5-0 against Dallas Baptist with a 2-0 record on the road. Last season James Gutierrez made four saves to post a shutout at home, while Luis Lozoya scored the only goal of the game 55 seconds into play.

The Hilltoppers are 9-2-1 on the season with a 6-1-1 record in Heartland play. St. Edwards will host West Texas A&M prior to the match against the Hounds. Dylan Armstrong leads St. Edwards with six goals and five assists. William Tuffin has a 0.82 goals against average with a .737 save percentage.

Eastern is 1-6-3 overall against St. Edwards and looking for its first road win in the series. Last season, the Greyhounds played to a scoreless tie against the Hilltoppers at home.
