Men’s Soccer Earned United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Eastern New Mexico men’s soccer team was recognized for its exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year after being named a Team Academic Award recipient, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches.
999 college teams (346 men, 653 women) earned this prestigious award and set themselves apart from the over 30,000 members of the United Soccer Coaches, the largest soccer coaches’ organization in the world.
To be eligible for a Team Academic Award, teams must complete the academic year with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better for all players on the roster. Head Coach Jon Fridal’s group earned a 3.07 GPA as a squad and brought the award to the Eastern New Mexico campus for the second time in program history and the first since 2005.
On the field the Hounds were just as impressive, posting a 12-5-1 overall record and finishing as the winningest team in program history. Five ENMU players were named to the All-Lone Star Conference Team with three garnering All-South Central accolades.
