Men’s Basketball  Nicolle Holcomb

The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to host Dallas Baptist University and Midwestern State University this weekend. The Greyhounds take on DBU on Thursday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m. before facing MSU at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5.

LAST TIME OUT

• The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team enters the week with a 6-11 overall record and 2-6 mark in Lone Star Conference play. ENMU fell, 73-69, to UT Permian Basin on January 27 before the Hounds were handed a 93-62 loss by Angelo State on Jan. 29.
• Against UTPB, Marvin Mapaga led the ENMU offense with 17 points (7-8 FG, 1-1 3PT, 2-2 FT). Yosnier Cobas was close behind with 16 points, which included going a perfect 12-12 at the free throw line. Cobas and Kentrell Pullian each pulled down a team-leading six rebounds.
• Against Angelo State, Pullian led the ENMU offense with 11 points. Mapaga and Niko Bossinakis each added eight points. Cornell Greenwood paced the defense with eight rebounds and three steals.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION 

DBU
• DBU enters the weekend with an overall record of 13-7 and 6-2 record in Lone Star Conference play.
• On Jan. 29, the Patriots fell 72-65 to No. 12 nationally-ranked West Texas A&M. Carson Hughes led all scorers with 17 points. Ricky Lujan added 14 points, while Julian Miranda scored 10 points.
• DBU has four student-athletes averaging double figure points. Cameron Kahn leads the way with 12.1 points per game, while Lujan adds 11.2. Hughes contributes 10.9 points per game and Austin Garner nets 10.1 per game. Defensively, Jalen White pulls down 5.7 rebounds per game.

Midwestern State 
• Midwestern State enters the weekend with an 8-12 record and 4-4 mark in conference play. The Mustangs will face No. 1 nationally-ranked Lubbock Christian on Feb. 3 before facing the Greyhounds.
• MSU defeated Cameron University, 79-55, on Jan. 29. Jermane Carter led the way with 19 points, while Terrell Wilson added 14. Amaechi Chukwu paced the team defensively with nine rebounds.
• Offensively, Carter leads the squad with 15.9 points per game. Wilson is close behind, averaging 13.1 points per game. On the glass, Jalin Brown and Carter lead the way with 6.4 and 6.1 rebounds per game, respectively.
