Men’s Basketball Nicolle Holcomb
The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team was selected 14th in the 2021-22 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, as announced during Tuesday’s online media day. The LSC Preseason Poll is voted upon by league coaches, sports information directors and media members.
The Greyhounds received 205 total points, which put them 14th in the poll. The last time Eastern played was in 2019-20 and the Hounds finished with an overall record of 8-19 and 8-14 mark in conference play. Unfortunately, ENMU was forced to sit out the 2020-21 season due to New Mexico COVID-19 restrictions.
Lubbock Christian University earned the top spot in this year’s poll with 711 points and 26 first place votes. West Texas A&M University was selected second with 681 points and 13 first place votes, while Dallas Baptist University earned 623 points and two first place votes which landed them in third place.
Rounding out the top-five in the poll were Texas A&M University-Kingsville (fourth place, 617 points, one first place vote) and St. Edward’s University (fifth place, 561 points, one first place vote).
In addition to the poll, the LSC announced that Lubbock Christian senior, Parker Hicks, was named the LSC Preseason Player of the Year.
The Greyhounds kick off the 2021-22 season with an exhibition at Division I powerhouse University of Arizona on Monday, November 1 at 6 p.m. Eastern has it’s first home game of the season in Greyhound Arena on Friday, Nov. 19 when it welcomes Northern New Mexico College at 6 p.m.
