LAS CRUCES – The New Mexico Supreme Court hears oral arguments in a case on Friday in Las Cruces and will meet with students after the hearing as part of an educational program on the rule of law.

It is the first time since statehood that New Mexico’s highest court has met in Las Cruces to hear a case.

The Court will hear arguments in a case involving three people charged with stealing multiple cattle from their owners in Otero County. After the hearing, attorneys for the parties and the justices will respond to questions from students in the audience. However, judicial ethical rules preclude members of the Court from addressing the merits of the pending case.
