TUCSON, Ariz. – The Eastern New Mexico men’s basketball team opened the 2021-22 season with an exhibition at the University of Arizona on Monday night at the McKale Center. ENMU was handed a 96-50 loss.

The Greyhounds opened the contest with a quick three from JaQuan Morris but the Wildcat offense quickly took control and found themselves leading 13-5 by the first media timeout.

Arizona went into halftime with a 50-31 lead after connecting on 17 of 33 field goals and going 6 of 15 from beyond the arc.

The Wildcat offense stayed hot in the second half, as they continued to widen their lead as time went on. Eventually, Arizona walked away with the 96-50 victory.

NOTABLE STATS

  • Eastern’s leading scorer was James Jordanwith 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3PT).
  • Kentrell Pullian added eight points, while Jared Perry tallied six.
  • Defensively, Jose Serrano led the team on the boards with seven rebounds. Pullian was close behind with five.
  • Yosnier Cobas finished the contest with two steals.
  • The Wildcats saw five student-athletes in double digit scoring. Bennedict Mathurin paced all scorers with 18 points. Christian Koloko, Justin Kier, and Kim Aiken Jr. all contributed 14 points.
  • On the boards, Koloko led the way with 10 rebounds.

  • Eastern played in front of 10,540 fans.
  • The Hounds are back in action on Saturday, November 13 at 1 p.m. when they take on Fort Lewis College in Albuquerque at the LSC/RMAC Conference Challenge.
