CANYON, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico track & field programs finished out competition at the Lone Star Conference Track and Field Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

The highlight of the day was Malethabo Seema’s first place win in the women’s 800-meter run. She crossed the finish line in 2:19.02. The last time the Greyhounds saw a gold medal in the Outdoor Championships in the women’s 800m was in 2016.

M. Seema also ran the 1500m and placed 10th with a time of 5:06.55.

In the javelin, Jessica Campbell finished fifth overall with a personal-best throw of 39.77 (130-06).

Torisha LaForce earned an eighth-place finish in the 400m hurdles after crossing the finish line in 1:11.67.

In the women’s 5000m, the Greyhounds saw two student-athletes finish in the top-10. Mercy Rotich ran a time of 19:24.24 which was good for fourth place. Aminata Kenyawani finished eighth with a time of 19:40.25.

On the men’s side of the 5000m, Kelvin Kipkemboi earned ninth place out of 21 runners with a time of 15:39.91.

Throughout the weekend, Eastern saw 13 top-10 finishes.

The Greyhounds finish out the regular season at the West Texas A&M Last Chance on May 16.
