A celebration of the life of Marida Wright, 91, of Clovis, will be at 2:00 PM, Thurs, April 27, 2017 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with John Forrest officiating, assisted by Fr. Alan Brockmeier. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Dean Hodges, Don Bryant, Scot Hodges, Brad Hodges, Guy Bryant and Danny Bryant serving as pallbearers. In gratitude for the wonderful care given by the staff of the Farwell Rehab and Care Center, they have been named as honorary pallbearers. Marida Bell Wright was born Aug. 14, 1925 in Grady, NM to the home of Nora Della (Kirkwood) and Willis Hunnel Bryant, and entered into heaven early Sunday morning, April 23, 2017 at the Farwell Rehab and Care Center in Farwell, TX. She graduated from Wheatland School in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Portales to attend Eastern New Mexico College. In Portales, while working at Henley’s Grocery Store, she met the love of her life, Ned Wright. She and Ned were married July 13, 1946. To this union were born two daughters, Candy and Kathy. Later on, Marida went to work as an office worker and worked several years at the Roosevelt County Clerk’s Office. In 1974, she and Ned moved to Clovis, where she was active in church work and was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, square dancing, and raising Boston Terrier puppies. She treasured the time she spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by Ned, her husband of 62 years on Sept. 14, 2008; her parents and seven brothers, Alford, Clifford, J. B., Buford “Curly”, Calvon “Brownie,” Eldon and James “Bunkins” Bryant. Survivors include her daughters, Candy and Kathy of Clovis; three sisters-in-law, Becky Bryant of Tucumcari, NM, Barbara Bryant of Clovis and Edith Goff of Texarkana, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
