Funeral services for Maria Eutilia Gonzales, 82, of Portales, will be held at 10:30 AM, Thurs., Jan. 7, 2021 at Trinity Assembly of God Church with Pastor Kelly Fulfer officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Valentine Sotelo, Rudy Sotelo, Juan Martinez, Victoriano Martinez, Rey Garcia and Alex Galvan serving as pallbearers. Jayson Zingraf, Marcel Divino Gonzales and Leroy Aragon, Jr. will be honorary pallbearers. Fr. Francisco Carbajal will officiate over the graveside committal.

Maria Eutilia Gonzales was born June 4, 1938 in Chacon, NM to Angelina Martinez, and died Jan. 3, 2021 in Portales, NM at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 29 days.  Mrs. Gonzales grew up in the Chacon and Mora area.  As a young woman she moved to Rawlins, WY, where she met Edward Gonzales.  They were married June 28, 1961 in Rawlins.  In 1965, they relocated their young family to Denver, CO, where they remained until 1981.  During those years, Mrs. Gonzales not only tended to her growing family, but also worked as a waitress at various dining establishments, and she and her husband owned and operated several restaurants of their own.  In 1981, they moved to Roswell, and then in 1984 they came to Portales, where she continued to work in restaurants for several more years and was a cashier for Aramark at EasternNM University for almost 20 years.  She was a member of the Catholic church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 59 years, Edward R Gonzales, her mother, Angelina Arguello and daughter, Elaine McGraw. She is survived by three sons, John Michael Gonzales of Denver, CO, Barton Charles Gonzales of Oahu, HI and Augustine Martinez of Portales; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary Martinez of Portales, Arlene (Rodolfo) Sotelo of Portales, Helen (Eduvijes) Marrtinez-Garcia of Portales and Brenda Lee (Timothy) Kirkland of Cordova, AL; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Arguello of Portales; and three sisters, and brothers-in-law, Nora (Jimmy) Gallegos of Guadalupita, NM, Marcella (Mike) Marquis of Roswell, NM and Lorraine (Ernest) Blea-Garcia of Roswell, NM.
