Funeral services for Maria Esmenia Aranda, 70, of Portales, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tues., Oct. 20, 2020 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Pete Jaramillo officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Corralez, Peter Avery, Shannon Lopez, Thomas Villa, Anthony Aranda, Johnny Lucero, Jimmy Lucero and Phil Duran.
Maria Esmenia Aranda was born April 27, 1950 in Portales, New Mexico to the home of Ricarda Maria (Aguilar) and Jose Lucero, and died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020 in Clovis, NM. She was a loving and caring mother and homemaker. She did upholstery and also worker at the peanut mill. She loved to go visit with people, especially her sister Irene. She was a very strong Christian woman who prayed heavily for all of her children, especially Ector.
She is survived by her children, Lalo Arando, Jr., Ector Ray Aranda, Vickie Ortega and husband Lolo, Shannon Lopez and Naomi Aranda; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Cecelia Lucero, David Aguilar, Irene Lucero, Phillip Duran, Virginia Lucero, Jimmy Lucero and Johnny Lucero, and numerous nieces and nephews.
