Lyndon Greathouse Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lyndon G. Greathouse, who left us on December 6, 2024, at home. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Lyndon was a man of remarkable warmth, generosity, and spirit.
Born on January 22,1957, Lyndon was a proud country boy, living life with a deep love for family, friends, and the simple pleasures of the world around him. His hands were known for their skill as a carpenter, crafting beautiful pieces that will live on long after him. For many years, he was also a dedicated mail carrier, bringing smiles to his neighbors and the community of Dora every day with his friendly demeanor and ever-present sense of humor.
Lyndon was a man who never met a stranger and could light up any room. His infectious laughter and love for life made him the life of every party. Whether telling a story, sharing a joke, or offering a word of encouragement, Lyndon was the kind of person who could always be counted on to lift the spirits of those around him.
He was also known for his selflessness. Lyndon was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need. His friends knew him as a loyal and generous companion, always ready to lend a hand or offer a kind word. A passionate gambler at heart, he approached life with the same risk-taking spirit, always seeking the next adventure and enjoying every moment to the fullest.
Above all, Lyndon was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose family meant the world to him. His love, wisdom, and guidance will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind his wife Debbie Greathouse of Portales, NM, 2 daughters Rainie Greathouse of Portales, NM and Mistie Greathouse (Vanzant Culbreath) of Ruidoso, NM. He is also survived by his sister Angelia and Jimmie Mace of Alto, NM, 5 grandchildren Maddie and Maizie Milner and Deshawn, Mason, and Mavrie Culbreath, 2 nieces Veronica Mace Wadley (Joshua Wadley), Valerie Mace Barnett (Justin Barnett), great nieces, nephews, Cousin Tomma Irvine (Ed Irvine), as well as, a host of friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
He is preceded in death by his father Allen Dale Greathouse and Mother Bessie Whiteley Chapman. His uncle Pete Greathouse and Aunt Carmen Greathouse.
A celebration of Lyndon’s life will be held at Wheeler Mortuary on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:00 pm, officiated by Mike Tucker.
