 The Eastern New Mexico softball team welcomed Lubbock Christian University to Greyhound Softball Field on Monday afternoon for a Lone Star Conference doubleheader. The Greyhounds fell 10-0 in the first game and 14-3 in the second.

GAME ONE: LCU 10, ENMU 0 (5 INNINGS)

The Lady Chaps jumped out to an early lead in the first inning due in part to a two-run homer from Brooke Makemson and never looked back on the way to a 10-0 five inning shutout.

Eastern saw three hits during the contest with two from Mikenzey Patterson and one from Abigail Dennis.

Brook Leger got the start and the loss for the Hounds in the circle. She ended with five strikeouts and six walks in 3.2 innings. Maite Bustillos finished out the game and recorded one strikeout with two hits and one run allowed.

GAME TWO: LCU 14, ENMU 3 (5 INNINGS)

Lubbock Christian got the bats going quickly again to take a 6-0 lead in the second inning.

The Hounds responded in the bottom of the third with three runs of their own to cut the deficit to 6-1. Dennis got things started with a double to center and then rounded third and home after two errors. Jokaira Paredes and Bella Mendoza each had RBI singles to round out the frame.

The Lady Chaps saw seven runs cross home plate in the top of the fourth, highlighted by doubles from Addi Lewis and Savannah Wysocki to secure the 14-3 victory.

Eastern saw a hit each from Paredes, Mendoza, Dennis, and Azalea Martinez throughout the game.

Tava Boone was credited with the loss for the Hounds in 3.2 innings of work. Jordan Bowman pitched the remaining 1.1 innings and had one strikeout while allowing just two hits.

The Greyhounds return to the road next weekend. Eastern faces Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Friday, March 19 for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
