The 2018 football season is just around the corner and the Eastern New Mexico University Greyhounds and to get things started. Head Football Coach Kelley Lee and two players will head down to San Antonio, Texas for the Lone Star Conference Preseason Media Day on Tuesday, July 24 to kick things off.
Traveling with Lee will be redshirt junior quarterback Wyatt Strand and graduate student linebacker Brad Hardin. LSC Media Day will begin with registration followed by lunch, a brief program, remarks from each football coach and student-athlete and an open interview session.
During the event, league officials will announce the preseason poll and players of the year. Fans can watch the event live on the LSC Facebook page by clicking the link above.
The 2017 season saw the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions win their first-ever NCAA Division II National Championship over West Florida, 37-27. Texas A&M-Commerce became the second team in LSC history to win a NCAA Division II Football National Championship joining Texas State (formerly Southwest Texas), who won the title in 1981 and 1982.
Midwestern State claimed its fourth league title with an 8-0 record during the regular season. Four LSC teams participated in postseason play last season, with Texas A&M-Commerce and MSU advancing to the NCAA Division II playoffs, Angelo State playing in the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl, and Tarleton State in the Corsicana Bowl.
The Hounds put together a solid 2017 campaign going 8-2 overall with a 6-2 mark in conference play to finish third in the standings. Entering 2018, ENMU brings back 20 total letterwinners from a season ago and 13 starters. Below is the full list of expected attendees for each LSC school.
