Loyd Gene Miller was one of a set of twin boys born Feb. 7, 1944 in Elida, NM to the home of Gladys (Killgore) and Norville H. Miller and died Sat., Dec. 3, 2022 in Welling, OK where he had been living since June of 2021. Mr. Miller grew up in Elida and graduated from Elida High School in 1962. Following his graduation, Loyd attended a trade school to be trained as an office machine repairman. For several years he was employed at Davidson Office Equipment in Portales. He moved to Muskogee, OK in the early 1970’s where he was again employed in an Office Supply store. By the early 2000’s there was a decreasing demand for office equipment, and thus for its repair. Consequently, he began employment as a land surveyor. Following the death of his wife, he retired and moved back to Portales. He returned to OK to live with his daughter in 2021.
On Aug. 26, 1978, he was married to Betty Westbrook. Loyd was a faithful Christian, and a member of the Faith Christian Family Church in Clovis where he served as a greeter. He was very outgoing and loved meeting new people. Family was very important to Loyd, and he always looked forward to any occasion when he could be with them. One of those times that he particularly enjoyed was playing golf with his brothers. Loyd also enjoyed doing some woodworking, and had built several pieces of furniture.
He is survived by his son, James Foreman of Welling, OK; his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Andy Hudgens of Welling, OK; two grandchildren, Tiffany (Kyle) Rarick, Maya Foreman and one great-grandchild Raelynn Rarick; and five brothers and sisters-in-law, Boyd (Laveda) Miller of Portales, Stanley (Sissy) Miller of Carlsbad, NM, Stephen (Donna) Miller of Haskell, OK, Dwayne (Beverly) Miller of Gore, OK and Philip (Denise) Miller of Moore, OK. Mr Miller was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harlon Darrell Miller, who died in 2016, and by Betty Miller, his wife of more than 30 years, who died Oct. 5, 2008.
