Funeral services for Lila “Lou” Morgan, 80, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 PM, Mon., July 29, 2019 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Dustin Morgan, Randall Thomas, Tyler Morgan, Jesse Morgan, Justin Morgan and Dale Wortham serving as pallbearers. All other family members will be honorary pallbearers.

Lou Morgan was born June 12, 1939 in St. Vrain, NM to the home of Willie May (McGuire) and Charlie Wall and died July 22, 2019 in Portales, NM. Lou’s family moved to Melrose for a few years, and then resettled in Floyd. She graduated from high school in Floyd in 1957. She lived in Washington state for a short time, and then moved back to Betherl. Lou worked at Security Finance, Portales City Hall and as a secretary at Eastern New Mexico Unviversity. Following her marriage to Jim Morgan on Oct. 20, 1973, she was a wife and mother at home. Portales was her home for the remainder of her life. She was very involved in her children’s lives, acting as a room mother, supporting them in all of their activities, and holding various fund raising events and dances to raise money for their proms. In addition, the enjoyed breeding and raising a variety of breeds of dogs for sale. Besides her family, Lou’s main involvement was at Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and on various committees. She also liked to do cross-stitch projects.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of their home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Shelly Morgan and Dustin and Cyndi Morgan of Portales; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brandi Morgan of Portales and Tanya and Randall Thomas of Springtown, TX; 12 grandchildren, Jesse and Sarah Morgan, Tyler and Emily Morgan, Justin and Engelica Morgan, Jordan Morgan, Jaycey and Dustin Sisneros, Dale and Danielle Wortham, Gage Wortham, Joshua Wortham, Samuel Thomas, Tristan Shaw, and Julian and Dorian Morgan; five great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, J. L. “Sonny” and Betty Lou Wall of Clovis. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mintie Crump and Ila Sue Cox, and by a great-granddaughter, Presley Ann Morgan who died July 15, 2017.
