A. began working for D&D Equipment installing gas pumps.  Later he became licensed with the USDA for the State of New Mexico to install both underground and above gasoline tanks.  In addition to NM, he also worked in Texas, Arizona, and Colorado.  L. A. never retired, and was still working at the time of his death.

He was a member of the Melrose Methodist Church.  He was very artistic, and enjoyed painting t-shirts and other items of clothing.  Other activities included gardening and cooking as well as watching western movies.  He remained active with FFA and 4H helping young people with their show animals.
