Lee Massey Obituary
Graveside services for Lee Massey, 91, of Levelland, TX will be held at 11:00 AM, Fri., Mar. 7, 2025 in the Causey Cemetery with Kevin Massey officiating. Kyle Massey, Craig Massey, Kenneth Cox, Lewis Walker, Rory Bowman and Matthew Massey will serve as pallbearers.
Lee Edward Massey was born Mar. 1, 1934 in Richland, NM to the home of Lillie Belle (Meils) and David Lee Massey, and died Mar. 2, 2025, in Big Spring, TX. Mr. Massey grew up in the Rogers community where he attended school. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1952, and a year later, on July 24, 1953, he was married to Thelma Ethel Fuller. For the next several years he farmed in various locations in Roosevelt and Lea Counties. In 1982, he started driving tucks in the oil fields, and finally retired in 2015 at the age of 81. For the majority of his life he had made his home in Lovington, but in 2009, he moved to Levelland, TX. He was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. He enjoyed watching wrestling and going to dances.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma on Jan. 31, 2003. He was later married to Lila Fae Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Lila Massey of Claude, TX; his son, Clois Massey of Big Spring, TX; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Dan Bowman of Troup, TX and Linda and Steve Houston of Tatum, NM; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Walton of Amarillo, TX. Besides his wife, Thelma, he was also preceded in death by both of his parents, two brothers, Gene and Clarence Massey, and two daughters and a son-in-law, Gwendolyn and Scott Philhower and Cindy Massey who died as an infant.
