Laurie Ann (Olguin) Santillanes July 21, 1971 ~ March 21, 2024 (age 52)

Funeral services for Laurie Santillanes, 52, of Portales will be held at 2:00 PM, Thurs., Mar. 28, 2024, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fox officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with Anthony Olguin, Connor Olguin, Michael Encinias, Landon Dominguez, Steve Olguin and Parker Yi serving as pallbearers.  Laurie Ann Santillanes went to her eternal home after a hard-fought battle from scleroderma.  Donations to the National Scleroderma Foundation can be made in Laurie’s name at www.scleroderma.org.

Laurie Ann was born in Portales, NM on July 21, 1971 to Fabiola and Tony Olguin in Portales, NM.  Laurie graduated from Portales high School in 1991.  Laurie married the love of her life; Michael Santillanes on April 24, 1992 and they welcomed the joy of her life; Payton on September 4, 2001. Laurie was baptized at Grace Family Fellowship Baptist Church in 2014 where she was also an active member for as long as her health would allow.

Laurie loved life and spending time with family. She loved to garden, she loved animals of all kinds and she loved to cook for her husband and she always served him first. Laurie was a loving aunt to Anthony, Connor, and Kaitlyn whom she called her pride and joy.  Laurie was excited to welcome her future daughter in law; Olivia Daniels, into her family.

Laurie was a hairdresser for many years and also worked as a customer service representative for Walmart and the Water Co-op. However, the jobs she cherished most were that of wife mother, daughter, and aunt.

Laurie is survived by her husband; Michael Santillanes, her son and his fiance; Payton Santillanes and Olivia Daniels, step-son; Gym Santillanes, mother; Fabiola Armijo, brother and sister-in-law; Steve and Maureen Olguin, nephews; Anthony (Micaela) and Connor Olguin, and niece; Kaitlyn Olguin.
