A graveside service for Laura Merrick will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the Causey Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Smith officiating.
Laura May Merrick age 97, of Portales, NM passed from this life January 12th, 2021 at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales, NM. She was born on March 17th, 1923 in Loop, Tx to Lonnie and Fannie Effie Wright. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, twelve siblings, husband Clifford Merrick, and great granddaughter Brenna Martinez Biocic.
She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Portales and known for her prize-winning hydrangeas. She loved quilting, gardening, and feeding her friends and family.
Laura is survived by her two sons and two daughters-in-law, Bill and Marcy Merrick of Cloudcroft, NM, Max and June Merrick of Portales, NM, two daughters and one son-in-law, Kenna and Rick Biocic of Grand Junction, CO, Cathy Merrick of Portales, NM, ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
