The Portales Softball team played a double-header against Lovington on April 19. The games were in Lovington, and both ended in close scores.
The first game was consistent scoring for the Lady Rams, who held Lovington off from any points until the 3rd inning. However after a big 4th inning for Lovington, who scored 6 points, the Lady Rams struggled ended up behind. Portales managed to score 4 runs in the 5th inning, but ultimately lost by a score of 8-7.
The second game had a similar outcome, with a 1-point deficit at the final of the game for Portales. They held Lovington to only 3 innings of the 7 with points. It wasn’t until the 7th that Lovington added just enough points to finish up the game ahead of Portales. The final score of the 2nd game was 6-5.
The 2 losses leave Portales Softball at 9-9 this season, and 0-4 in district.
