Kim Wayne Blakey left this world to be with our Heavenly Father on August 7, 2021, at the age of 66 in El Paso, TX.
Kim was born on December 12, 1954 in Portales, NM and grew up in Causey, NM. He lived a life of cowboying, guitar pickin’, fiddle playing, and serenading us with his beautiful voice. Aside from music, he spent his life devoted to his family, friends, and cattle. He was an entrepreneur, a vinyl connoisseur, and a jack of all trades to top it off. He married his wife Kim McCarty Blakey on April 12, 1990 and they proudly raised their two daughters. Kim has left behind a legacy greater than his music. He was kind, a friend to everyone he crossed paths with, and was always there to lend a helping hand with a smile on his face.
He is survived in death by his mother, Joann Blakey; loving wife Kim McCarty Blakey; daughters Emily Strickland (Hunter Strickland) and Brittany West (Logan West); grandchildren Kenley Strickland, Blake Strickland, Cameron West, Addison West, and grandson West on the way; brother Larry Blakey (Sandi Blakey), sisters Judy Clark (Ray Clark), Rita Blakey, and Doris Welch (Jeff Welch); nephews and nieces Kasey Vaughan, Kody Vaughan, Kyle Blakey, Kambrey Blakey, Lindsay Blakey, Mattison Blakey, and numerous great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Roy (Buster) Blakey, brother Richard (Dick) Blakey, grandparents Mack and Ruby Blakey and Oscar and Jessie McCormack, and brother-in-law Terry Reid.
