Kendon Travis Gossett was born Aug. 18, 1994 in Roswell, NM to the home of Lisa Nicole (Overby) and John D. Gossett, and died May 14, 2020 near Portales, NM. The family moved to Fort Stockton, TX in June 1998. Kendon attended school there and graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 2012. While in school, he was on the swim team, and made regionals his very first year. Kendon was an excellent artist, and enjoyed drawing and painting. His works had won a number of awards. Kendon enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, and did a great impression of Johnny Cash. He also wrote numerous poems and songs.
After high school, Kendon attended at Lubbock Christian University and later at South Plains College in Levelland. He decided college was not really for him, and he had a number of different jobs over the next several years. His only real requirement was that it was outside. His favorite job was as a landscaper.
Kendon loved the Lord with all of his heart, and was a challenging and deep thinker. He considered concepts from God’s word that caused even Biblical scholars to return to their studies in order to discuss them. He was a man who felt things very deeply, and loved with tremendous depth of heart. He was generous to a fault, and often gave away resources that he needed for himself. The immediate comment in describing him was that he was very tender hearted and kind.
He is survived by his parents, Lisa and John Gossett of Fort Stockton, TX; his brother and sister-in-law, Cole and Rachel Gossett of Snyder, TX; his grandfather, Howard (Vana) Overby of Fort Stockton, TX; and numerous aunts and uncles, including Michele Huckaby of Fort Stockton, and Gregg Gossett of Floyd, as well as countless cousins and family members and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Patricia Overby and by his paternal grandparents, Alice and Travis Gossett
