Clovis, NM – In recent weeks, the Ninth Judicial District Court received numerous calls from concerned citizens who were fearful that they owed the Court money for missing jury service.  The scammers advised these citizens to pay the fine through local businesses, such as Albertson’s MoneyStar, Walgreens or the nearest government kiosk using cash or debit cards.

The Court would like to remind the community that the Court never asks jurors to pay money in regards to jury service.  If you receive a call from someone pretending to be an employee with the Court who requests money as part of your jury service, this is a scam.

“Do not let these scammers have access to your bank account.  If you receive one of these bogus calls, do not give out any personal information and contact law enforcement”, said Ninth Judicial District Court Chief Judge Donna Mowrer.  “The Ninth Judicial District and Magistrate Courts send jury summons to prospective jurors by mail.  If you need to verify your upcoming jury service in either Curry or Roosevelt County, call our Jury Division at 575-742-7531 or email us at  clodjury@nmcourts.gov .  The Court will never ask you for money regarding missed jury service,” Mowrer added.
