PORTALES, NM — Senior pitcher Jonathan Joy scattered seven hits and allowed just one run over 8.1 innings for the Eastern New Mexico University baseball team (7-2) in Friday night’s series opener at Greyhound Baseball Field. Angelo State got off to a quick start, however, and held on for a 4-1 win over the Hounds.

The Rams sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning and capitalized on four walks to seize a 3-0 lead
Andrew Stubbs one-out double in the Greyhound fifth was ENMU’s first hit of the game
Paul Tapia followed with a two-out RBI single down the right-field line to pull ENMU within 3-1
The Rams added an insurance run in the seventh inning

Joy finished the game with 104 pitches and four strikeouts to just one walk
