The Eastern New Mexico rodeo team made the short trip over to Canyon, Texas to compete in the West Texas A&M Rodeo this past weekend.
Sophomore Molly Griffin highlighted the Hounds performance for the weekend with a third place finish in the average after a short go time of 6.1 in the breakaway roping to finish in third place for the rodeo. Griffin earned 80 individual points for the event and joined freshman Calahan Jeffreys as the two athletes to make it back to the short go for the Hounds.
Jeffreys earned 70 points for the team as a designated team member, leading the Hounds men’s team to a 10th place finish in the rodeo. Jeffreys split 9th and 10th place in the long go after a time of 9.9 seconds to qualify for the short go in which he finished in third place for the round on Saturday night following a time of 11.0.
That third place finish in the short go vaulted Jeffreys up to fourth place in the average with a time of 20.9 for the two rounds.
Eastern New Mexico will turn their attention to their final rodeo of the fall semester in Lubbock, Texas at the Texas Tech Rodeo on Oct. 25th and 27th.
