Iris Madrid has joined the Eastern New Mexico athletic training staff ahead of the 2022 season as an assistant athletic trainer. Madrid will serve as the primary contact for ENMU’s Men’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, and Baseball programs.
Prior to coming to Eastern, Madrid served as an athletic training student for the Aggies Baseball program during the 2022 season. With the baseball program, Madrid assisted the Certified Athletic Trainer in treatment, evaluation, and rehabilitation. The semester before, Madrid held a similar position at Organ Mountain High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico in the fall of 2021.
Before the 2021-22 season, Madrid worked with the Aggies Football program in the fall of 2020 and the Women’s Basketball program in the 2019-20 season. Madrid has gained experience and instruction for several rehabilitation and injury prevention techniques including: cupping, instrument assisted therapy, and blood flow restriction training.
In addition to their clinical experience, Madrid has achieved National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA) membership, Athletic Training certification from the Board of Certifications (BOC), and is Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certified.
Madrid was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from New Mexico State University.
