CLAREMORE, OKLA. — Jennifer McElroy matched a season-best eight-game hit streak and drove in six runs on two homers and two doubles during Wednesday’s non-conference doubleheader. Rogers State (27-11) edged the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (16-23), 4-3, in the opener, but the Hounds claimed a decisive 18-9 win in the nightcap at Diamond Sports Complex.

With the split, Head Coach Katie Welborn joined Kathleen Rodriguez and as the only ENMU softball coaches to reach to 50-win mark.

ENMU bashed five homeruns over the two games and are just one homer away from tying for second (42) on the program’s single-season list
Leslie Reyes’ third-inning homer in the opener marked the first time a player listed as the pitcher homered for ENMU since Katie Ripple against Texas Woman’s on April 15, 2016
The nightcap marked the first multi-homer game for any Greyhound this season
Erikka Burke bashed her 35th homer to extend her career record
Burke is now one homerun shy of tying her own 2017 season (13) and Tina Whitt (2006) for second on the single-season list and two away from Kristen Cruickshank’s record (14, 2009)

Game 2
Precious Aguirre drew a walk to lead off the nightcap, and McElroy followed two batters later with her fifth homer of the season for a 2-0 lead
The Hillcats responded with a Danielle Day solo homer in the bottom of the inning
Burke hammered a two-out, bases-loaded double in the second inning to give the Hounds a 5-1 lead they would not relinquish
The Greyhounds batted around and scored six two-out runs in a fourth inning which was highlighted by a three-run double from Ashley Lopez
Rogers State responded with seven runs in the bottom of the frame, which included a grand slam from Day
Eastern entered the fifth with an 11-8 lead and added insurance with a three-run blast from McElroy
Sierra Skaggs homered in the bottom of the inning to pull RSU back within 14-9
Burke led off the seventh with a homerun as the Hounds scored four runs to close out the game
Kiana Zerr went 6.1 innings to earn the win

Nine of the Greyhounds’ hits went for extra bases
McElroy batted 3-for-5 with three runs, six RBIs, two homers and a double

Lopez, Courtney Vigil and Elena Garcia each had two hits and combined for five RBIs

Game 1
In the opener, Reyes’ third inning leadoff homer was Eastern’s first hit and snapped a scoreless tie
Allie McFetridge cracked a three-run blast in the bottom of the fourth to give the Hillcats the lead
McFetridge added a RBI single in the sixth as RSU took a 4-1 lead
Zerr cracked a two-run blast in the seventh to pull ENMU within one run
Rogers State held a 5-3 edge in total hits in the game
Reyes tossed a complete game for the Hounds, fanned seven batters and walked seven
Alex Brake earned the win for Rogers State and struck out eight batters
