The Eastern New Mexico University outdoor track & field teams completed a strong performance at the West Texas A&M Classic & Multi. Omer Almog (5,000m) and Marcus Parker (100m) registered first-place performances in their events to lead the men’s team to a third-place finish. Coley Norcross took second in the 5,000m, while Melina Gryschka took third in the 800m to pace the women’s team to a seventh-place finish.

Track Events
Almog’s time of 15:06.20 in the men’s 5,000m run was the top finish by nearly 40 seconds. Christian Monroy also performed well in the event, and placed fifth at 16:11.69. Garrett Meyer placed fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase at 10:15.51, and was followed by Tito Chaidez-Martinez III at 10:22.98.
In the middle distance, Marcel Skalecki took fifth in the 1,500m at 4:06.88, while Luis Villasenor was fourth in section 1 of the men’s 800m run.
Avery Rasher placed seventh in the 400m at 48.58. The men’s 4×100 relay team of Jacques Hall, Julian Coronado, Travonne Armstead, and Marcus Parker, placed second with a provisionally qualifying time of 40.29. Augustus Swanson won the 400m hurdles with a qualifying time of 51.87, while Ilia Eligulachvili took fourth at 53.53.
Parker also excelled in the sprints and won the 100m with a provisionally-qualifying time of 10.49 and took third in the 200m with a time of 20.92 (also a qualifying mark). Julian Coronado was eighth in the 100m at 10.81.
Norcross was the runner-up in the women’s 5,000m run with a time of 18:55.78, while Abby Kepfer was sixth at 19:19.32. Nancy Rodriguez finished fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:17.41
In the middle distance, Sierra Quinones took third in the 1,500m run at 5:12.19, while Kepfer finished right after her at 4:13.24.
Melina Gryschka turned in a third-place performance in the 800m run at 2:13.39, while Abby Aultman was sixth in the 400m hurdles at 1:04.33. Brooke Walker also ran the 400m hurdles well for the Hounds and took eighth at 1:06.10.
The women’s 4x400m relay team 4×400 (Kiana Covington, Mason Swanson, Maijah Mathis, Dominique Zamora) took sixth place with a time of 4:00.57.
Ezra Bagwell finished sixth in the men’s decathlon with 5,781 points, 79 ahead of UC-Colorado Spring’s Kyle Rex. Scott Wesselink took eighth in the decathlon with 5,699 points. Wesselink was first in the discus with a toss of 111′-9.9″ and second in the shot put, with a throw of 37′-4.42″. Bagwell was second in the 1,500m with a time of 4:47.67.

Field Events
Alexis Aguirre took third in the women’s javelin with a toss of 127′-0.4″, and Shelby Jones was fourth at 124′-11.6″. Danee Bustos tied for third in the high jump with a leap of 5′-3.4″.

Kenneth Lloyd’s high jump of 6′-9.5″ was a provisionally qualifying mark, and he also had a long jump of 22′-9.6″.
The Eastern New Mexico University outdoor track & field teams will continue their season on Saturday, April 22, for the West Texas A&M Quad Meet. The event will be the Hounds’ last before the Lone Star Conference Championships.
