CANYON, TEXAS – The Eastern New Mexico University outdoor track & field teams combined to claim first place in eight events on Sunday at the West Texas A&M Invitational. The performances included three NCAA Championship qualifying marks, while both the men’s and women’s teams from ENMU claimed second place in the team standings.

Top Finishers
Marcus Parker registered the performance of the day, as his time of 10.30 not only earned a first-place finish in the event, but stands as the fourth-best in the nation. Jacques Hall, Avery Rasher, Travonne Armstead, and Parker teamed to give the Hounds the 21st best time in the country in the 4x100m relay at 40.83, to claim first place at the meet. Melina Gryschka won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10.48.99, to post her second qualifying time in the event this season. Kiana Covington ran a season-best 57.68 to win the 400m dash, while Mekayla Welsh tossed the javelin 102′-10.6″ to take first place. Omer Almog took first place in the 5,00m run with a time of 14:54.05, while Ivar Moinat wrapped up a winning performance in the 800m at 1:54.13. Luis Duarte rounded out the top finishers for the Greyhounds with a toss of 166′-0.9″ in the javelin.
Track Events
The Greyhound women’s team dominated the field in the 400m dash. IN addition to Covington’s performance, the Hounds turned in six of the top seven performances in the event. Brooke Walker placed third, Kandace Miles fourth, Kaylyn Feliceti fifth, Jameshia Battle sixth, and Abby Aultman seventh.
Coley Norcross finished second in the 1,500m with a time of 18:54.32. She also took fifth in the 1,500m (5:11.16), just one spot behind teammate Abby Kepfer, who finished at 5:05.18. Kepfer also placed fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:32.21.
Lateria Slaughter took third in the 100m dash with a time of 12.02. Danee Bustos was fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 25.06, and was followed by Slaughter (sixth) and Miles (seventh).
Garrett Meyer was the runner-up in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:03.40. Lorenzo Juarez took third in the 1,500m run at 4:13.84, and was immediately followed by Meyer (4:17.98). Augustus Swanson placed fourth in the 400m dash at 49.18.
Field Events
Kenneth Lloyd had another strong day in the high jump, which he has already qualified for. He turned in a second-place performance at today’s meet with a leap of 6′-6.7″.
