The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team makes its fifth-straight Lone Star Conference Tournament appearance on Thursday when it takes on host and 15th-ranked Tarleton State. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Stephenville, Texas. The Hounds finished the regular season with a 12-18 overall record and a 9-11 mark in LSC play.
Senior Brooklyn Biel finished the conference season with the ninth-best hitting percentage in league play, swinging at a .282 clip. The Laveen, Ariz., native led the team with 187 kills in LSC play and 303 kills overall. Additionally, Biel had 82.0 blocks on the year to climb into the top-10 in program history.
Senior Andrea Aguilar racked up 349 digs and averaged 4.99 digs/set in league play, the second-most in the LSC. With 1,871 career digs, the Clovis product is 59 shy of Caitlin Murphy’s all-time program record. Additionally, Aguilar needs 15 digs to break her personal single-season record of 533.
Sophomore Sarah Tuioti-Mariner is tied for the team lead with seven double-doubles and ranks second for the club with 298 kills and 216 digs. The Corona, Calif., native has seen a breakout campaign in her second season with the Hounds, more than doubling her kill total from a season ago.
Junior Kaitlyn Kluna has been a weapon from the service line all year. The Helotes, Texas, product has 45 aces on the season, the third-most in conference and is eight off from the league lead.
The winner of Thursday’s matchup with the TexAnns takes on the winner of Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M on Friday.
