ABILENE, Texas – The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team bounced back from a loss last night with a double-header sweep of Hardin-Simmons, 6-4 and 19-1, on Saturday afternoon in Abilene, Texas. With the wins, ENMU moves to 17-5 on the season before opening Lone Star Conference play in two weeks.

In the first game, Malcolm Smith went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored to pace the offense. On the mound, Austin Paisar tossed 6.2 innings, scattering nine hits for four runs with no walks and five strikeouts to earn the win. Victor Persad slammed the door in the bottom of the seventh, striking out the would-be tying run at the plate to earn his second save of the season.

In game two, the Greyhounds raced out to a 14-1 lead after the first three innings and never looked back in the 19-1 rout. Michael McNicholl blasted a pair of home runs, collecting five RBI while Endy Villalona continued his hot-streak, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Bryce Welborn earned the win, allowing just one hit and two walks over 4.0 innings while fanning six. Aidin Hernandez collected his first save of the year, tossing three innings of two-hit ball while striking out eight of the 11 batters faced.

The Greyhounds return to the diamond on Friday to begin a four-game, non-conference tilt with UTPB. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. at the friendly confines of Greyhound Stadium. For all the latest news on ENMU athletics, follow @ENMUBaseball and @ENMUAthletics on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
