The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team capped off a 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22) win over Lubbock Christian with a 9-1 run to close out the fourth set to clinch the match. The Greyhounds secured their third-straight victory to improve to 7-9 on the season.
The Hounds utilized a balanced offensive approach against the Lady Chaps as five players had at least five kills while 10 different players had at least one kill. Brooklyn Biel and Sarah Tuioti-Mariner each eclipsed double figures, racking up 12 and 10 kills, respectively, while Jasmine Gannon hit .471 with nine kills in the match. Kaitlyn Kluna posted a double-double, dishing out 23 assists and adding 10 digs while also tallying three aces in the win. After being named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, Andrea Aguilar continued her assault on the record book with 20 digs. The libero needs seven to move into sole possession of second place on the all-time list. ENMU stuffed LCU at the point of attack with nine blocks, led by Biel with two solos and four assists.
The theme of the match for the Hounds was closing out sets. Leading 17-15 in the first set, ENMU mounted an 8-1 run to secure the early edge. Out of a timeout with a 17-12 lead in the third, the Green and Silver produced an 8-4 run to take the lead for good. The fourth set rally proved to be the most thrilling of the night as Eastern rallied from a 19-13 deficit. Kluna picked up two of her three aces on the night during the 12-3 run, serving up five-straight points for the Hounds. Natasha McClendon blasted home one of her eight kills on the night to cap a 9-1 run by ENMU to secure the win.
