Portales, NM – Portales Police Department
January 29, 2025 – On January 29, 2025, at approximately 1100 hours Officers with the
Clovis Police Department, Portales Police Department, Roosevelt Sheriff’s Office, and the Major Crimes
Unit executed a search warrant in the 900 block of North Avenue K in Portales, New Mexico.
During the execution of this search warrant, an individual identified as Giovanni Cornelius Brown-Johnson was
arrested on scene in relation to a homicide that occurred in Clovis, New Mexico in August 2024. The
individual was transported without incident to the Roosevelt County Detention Center and will be
awaiting further court proceedings.
