For the 2nd game in a row, the Rams come through in the 2nd half and cruise to a 56-28 homecoming victory over the West Las Vegas Dons.
Marred by defensive penalties and miscues. The Dons were twice able to score on what of should have been two easy interceptions which were dropped by the Rams secondary. That on top of the numerous personal fouls deep in the red zone kept them in the game and their hopes high for knocking of the defending state champs.
Tied 21-21 going into the 3rd. Portales’ Tyrese Dawson broke the game open with a 27 yard scamper and the Rams never looked back. Dawson ended the game with 271 passing yards and three scores, while adding another 142 yards and three more scores on the ground. Defensively the Rams were led by #62 Phillip Blidi who racked up 2 sacks and kept constant pressure on the Dons quarterback.
Next week the Rams travel to Santa Fe against 2-1 St. Michaels Horsemen on Saturday, September 16 @ 1:30p.
