Following last weekend’s Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament, the league office released its list of All-Tournament honorees. Representing Eastern New Mexico University’s strong performance in the bracket were Kenya Brooke and Alejandra Camarillo.
The 2017 Greyhounds closed the season with a 3-3-4 run and reached the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference tournament for the first time in program history. Last Wednesday’s 4-0 win over Midwestern State marked the team’s first tournament victory in six appearances dating back to the 2006 season.
Kenya Brooke, a sophomore defender, tallied the game-winning goal in the tournament opener at Midwestern State. She helped key a Greyhound defense which allowed just five goals over Eastern’s final 10 matches, with multiple goals just once over that span.
Camarillo, a junior goalkeeper, made seven save in ENMU’s shutout victory over Midwestern State. She followed with a nine-save performance against Angelo State. Camarillo posted four shutouts over the Hounds’ last 10 matches and allowed more than a single goal just once over that span.
