Are we ready to be humbled and do we trust in God’s providence?
by Logan Brown
If you have been following HB 7, “Reproductive and Gender-Affirming
Healthcare Freedom Act,” you know that it is most likely going to pass into law
at the end of the legislative session. It’s sister bill, “SB13 Reproductive Health
Provider Protections”, will probably pass too. This has always been the reality
since the progressive Democrats have majorities in both the House of
Representatives and the NM Senate (don’t forget all other spheres of NM
government also). Elections have consequences and we are currently suffering
those consequences with the on slaughter of progressive bills that will be
passed into state law. Giving credit to where credit is due, there have been
some minor wins in Santa Fe from the republicans. There have been some
well-spoken and bold republicans who have done everything within their
abilities to speak out against much of the non-sense that has been coming out
of Santa Fe. But at the end of the day, we don’t have the votes.
We have known this the entire time! We must accept the fact that HB 7
and SB 13 will in-deed be the law of the land by the end of the month. What
does this mean moving forward? I will touch on this in a bit. For now, I want
to ask a more important question: are we ready to be humbled and humiliated
with these temporary losses? The pro-aborts (leftists, democrats, progressives,
etc.) will see the victory in the battle at the state level! They will make sure to
let everyone know that they are victorious, and they will rub it in the faces of
those who opposed them. They will post on social media of their victory. They
will post on all the frontpages of all the newspapers of their victories. They will
call out those, often by name, that tried to stand against them and their
agenda. Are we ready to suffer their victory shouts and mockery?
In times of suffering and persecution, we must remember that our Lord
and savior Jesus willingly was humiliated and suffered in this life. Jesus
willingly humbled Himself by entering His creation. He left the heavenly realm
to take on flesh and walk among us. He chose to be exposed to all the evils of
this fallen world. He showed us what true humility was that He willingly gave
himself over to be mocked, whipped, spit on, cursed at, bleed, and suffer the
most agonizing death on a roman cross. He even told His followers that they
will be hated, like He was hated.
John 15:18-25 says:
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it
hated you.
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but
because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the
world, because of this the world hates you.
20 Remember the word that I
said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted
Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours
also.
21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because
they do not know the One who sent Me.
22 If I had not come and spoken
to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their
sin.
23 He who hates Me hates My Father also.
24 If I had not done among
them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now
they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well.
25 But they have
done this to fulfill the word that is written in their Law, ‘THEY HATED ME
WITHOUT A CAUSE.’
Are we able to trust that God will have ultimate victory even when we
can’t see it in NM? The pro-aborts will think that they have beat the pro-life
communities of New Mexico. Scarier, they will think that they had victory over
God himself. Those who practice and support baby murder mock the true and
living God of the bible. They usurp his authority to get to decide who lives and
who dies. Those that practice and support body mutilation and call it “gender
affirming care” mock God. Haven’t you read that since the beginning, God has
made them male and female? They openly reject how they were created by God
and are saying that they know better than God by attempting to change their
gender. They are attempting to place themselves in His place of authority. Of
course, we know how this ends for them. Psalm 2 reminds us that God laughs
and scoffs at them!
Psalm 2 says:
2 Why are the nations in an uproar
And the peoples devising a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
3
“Let us tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them.
5 Then He will speak to them in His anger
And terrify them in His fury, saying,
6
“But as for Me, I have installed My King
Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”
7
“I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD:
He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8
‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance,
And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.
9
‘You shall break them with a rod of iron,
You shall shatter them like earthenware.’”
10 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment;
Take warning, O judges of the earth.
11 Worship the LORD with reverence
And rejoice with trembling.
12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you
perish in the way,
For His wrath may soon be kindled.
How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
I hope you take time to truly reflect on Psalm 2 in the coming weeks and
months ahead. What has been our role in this fight since the beginning? To
be faithful servants of God. What continues to be our role in this fight? To be
faithful servants of God. The RESULTS belong to Him and Him alone! So,
brothers and sisters, take REFUGE in Him that He will see this through for our
good and His glory. Our God is sovereign over all things in the heavens and
earth. He upholds all things and cares deeply for His Image Bearers. Our God
is in the heavens and does whatever He pleases (Psalm 115:3). So, take
REFUGE in Him, even while we suffer and are persecuted for standing for the
lives of the unborn in the liberal waste-land called New Mexico.
What does this mean moving forward? I just want everyone to know that
everything that’s happened so far was part of the behind the scenes plans of
the pro-life attorneys Jonathan F. Mitchell, Efren Cortez, and Michael Seibel.
The goal was never to win in New Mexico. We have always known the NM
Legislators would respond in kind to our attacks on their sacred cow (abortion).
We also knew that they would have the votes to pass whatever legislation they
wanted to, regardless of how many hundreds of thousands of emails and phone
calls they received in opposition. The goal of relying on the federal Comstock
laws, 18USC1461 and 18USC1462 in the local ordinances was to get outside of
New Mexico courts and to get these federal laws upheld by the highest court in
the land, SCOTUS. Once these federal Comstock laws are upheld, this could
mean the end of legal abortion as we currently know it. If SCOTUS upholds
the Comstock Laws, that means that they would be enforceable in all 50 states
and that all 50 states would not be able to send or receive ANY materials used
to perform abortions! The same thing could happen even sooner, depending on
the outcome of the Federal case in Amarillo right now. So please be praying for
Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk in the case of Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v.
FDA.
Even though all of this is going “as planned”, it still means that we will
have to humble ourselves in the present time and accept the pro-abort’s
temporary victories. We must trust in God to provide the ultimate victory! We
are called to continue to be faithful servants and trust in Him for the results,
even in the face of trials and persecution
