ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The Eastern New Mexico University track & field teams registered another strong performance on Saturday, competing at the University of Texas-Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational. Melina Gryschka, Kenneth Lloyd, Augustus Swanson, and the men’s 4x100m relay team posted provisionally qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships.
Gryschka won the women’s 5,000m run with a time of 16:54.89. She finished nearly a minute ahead of Dallas Baptist’s Leah Lewis. The quartet of Jacques Hall, Avery Rasher, Julian Coronado, and Travonne Armstead took third in the 4x100m relay with a time of 40.70, Kenneth Lloyd provisionally qualified in the high jump, with a lead of 6′-8.75″ to place second in the event. Augustus Swanson took second in the 400m hurdles with a qualifying time of 53.29.
Lloyd also placed tenth in the long jump, while Tito Chaidez was sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase at 10:10.93. Avery Rasher was the sixth runner in the 400m and crossed the finish line at 48.88, while Marcus Parker took 16th in the 200m dash at 21.62. Swanson also placed tenth in the 110m hurdles.
The women’s team excelled in the 400m run, with Mason Swanson (1:00.68) finishing fourth, while Abbey Aultman (1:01.23) was 12th. Danee Bustos was ninth in the high jump, with a leap of 5′-3″.
The Eastern New Mexico University outdoor track & field team will return to action next week. The team will be competing in the Texas Relays and the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational.
