PORTALES, NM -With the calendar winding down, the Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team (4-5) is ready for its final two non-conference games of the season. The Greyhounds are coming off their first Lone Star Conference win of the season.
On Thursday, Eastern will visit St. Mary’s University with a 1 p.m. MT tipoff. The Hounds will return home next Saturday to host fourth-ranked Lubbock Christian. Tipoff at Greyhound Arena is scheduled at 2 p.m. and ENMU Athletics will be holding a canned food drive.

The Greyhounds are coming off back-to-back overtime games in LSC action, which included a 78-72 win at Tarleton State. The victory gave the Hounds their longest win streak over the TexAnns since the late 1990’s. Kaylee Edgemon paced Eastern with a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds, while Shelby Jones posted her second double double of the season.
Mikaehla Connor leads ENMU with 11.2 points, while Jasmine Hotchkins is close behind with 8.6 points per game. The Hounds are being outscored by a slim 61.3-60.6 margin and boast a +7.1 rebounds per game differential. Hotchkins has made a team-best 20 three-point field goals, followed by Brandi Gomez (11).
In his fifth season, Head Coach Josh Prock ranks second on the ENMU career win list. Under his direction, Eastern has a 49-69 record, which included the program’s third 20-win season and second LSC title.

After an 0-3 start, St. Mary’s is now 5-7 on the season. The Rattlers are 2-5 against Lone Star Conference competition with victories over UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico.
St. Mary’s is being outscored by a 61.1-57.8 margin and has a +1.5 rebounding differential through 12 games. Arysia Porter leads the Rattlers with 15.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Eastern is 1-3 against St. Mary’s and has split the last two meetings. The last meeting occurred in 2008, when the Rattlers picked up a 65-52 win. That game was the first meeting since a 59-50 ENMU victory in 1998. Three of the four contests between the two have taken place in San Antonio, Texas, with the other being held at a neutral site.

ENMU is 23-12 against Lubbock Christian but is looking to snap a four-game skid in the series.
