LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Eastern New Mexico as one of the recipients of the 2018-19 AVCA Team Academic Award on Monday.
The award, which was initiated following the 1992-93 academic year, is presented to collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average.
It was the third time in the last four years that the Greyhounds volleyball program received the distinguished award after claiming the honor following the 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years. The squad finished the year with a 3.40 cumulative GPA, marking the sixth consecutive year the Hounds recorded a GPA of 3.20 or better.
Eastern was one of just four programs from the Lone Star Conference to receive the award, joining Angelo State, Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman’s.
During the 2018 volleyball season, ENMU was one of three teams to have multiple athletes earn Lone Star Conference All-Academic honors with senior middle blocker Jennifer Martinez and sophomore outside hitter Jasmine Gannon receiving the academic award.
