LUBBOCK, TEXAS — Elysa Rodriguez, Ashley Lopez and Karina Moreno homered for the Eastern New Mexico University softball team (18-31) in the final non-Lone Star Conference doubleheader of the season. Moreno’s two-run blast gave the Hounds an early lead in the opener, but Lubbock Christian rallied for 10-2 and 15-7 wins on Monday at Plains Capital Park.

Out of the Yard
The three homers brought the Greyhounds homerun total to 51
The only other season in which ENMU reached 50 homeruns was 2006, when the team cracked a program-record 57
Erikka Burke set a new Greyhound single season (15) and career (37) homer mark this year
Lopez has belted seven homers this season, while Rodriguez and Moreno have each hit two out of the park

Game 1
A leadoff walk to Courtney Medina allowed Lubbock Christian to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning
Samantha Brockman also set the Hounds up with a leadoff walk in the top of the second inning
Moreno followed with a two-out, two-run blast to give the Hounds a 2-1 lead
The Lady Chaps sent 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning and plated seven runs
Precious Aguirre and Burke both hit 2-for-3 in the game
Jennifer McElroy smashed a first-inning double

Game 2
Lubbock Christian took the lead in the nightcap on a first-inning, three-run homer from Sydney Beuthien
The Hounds responded with a leadoff blast from Lopez in the top of the second inning
The Lady Chaps exploded with 10 unanswered runs over the second and third frames to seize a 13-1 lead
Rodriguez cracked a two-run homer in the fourth and followed it with a two-run double in the fifth inning
Kiana Zerr followed Rodriguez in the fifth with a two-run double to pull the Hounds within 13-7
The game ended on K’Leigh Arredondo’s two-run single in the fifth as the Lady Chaps took an eight-run lead
Burke and Lopez each had two hits for ENMU
